Dad Metal

Hello ! I’m Dad Metal, a father and a metalhead. Welcome to my website! Here I’m writing about my adventures in the metal world.
I have been listening to metal since high school. My entrance into the metal world was Marilyn Manson, and I still remember how it changed my life—listening to MM and playing Pokemon Yellow—nothing has been the same since that moment. It did bring me some troubles, with people in school considering me a Satanist and a drug addict. After MM, my favourite band was System of a Down. Funny, even if they were heavier than MM, I had fewer troubles with society. And then I met some people who introduced me to stuff like black metal and death metal, and soon I discovered My Dying Bride. They became my favourite band.
During college, I experimented with various music genres and put metal on the side. Then I moved to another country and was busy figuring out other cultures.

I still listened to metal, more than ever, but not regularly, and I didn’t find it a big part of my life anymore.
Then I became a dad. It was the most magical and beautiful moment of my life. During the early days, my baby was waking up every hour or two during the night. So for a long time, I didn’t get a good night's sleep. I was very tired. Balancing work, baby, and not sleeping became hard. It was at that time that I started randomly listening to power metal compilations on Youtube. I needed something fast, uplifting, and positive to keep me awake and on my feet. That’s how Dad Metal was born.
Since then, metal music has had a real, physical effect on my life. It seems like a mediation, and listening to metal feels like coming home. Keeping me awake was the first effect. I had some challenging times at work, and listening to metal helped me find strength in myself. In present time, I feel like it’s an inspiration for life and for adventure. Every concert is a pilgrimage - feeds my soul and keeps me grounded.
